SUMMARY:Bike About Shasta Beginner Ride –Cinco de Mayo Ride featuring Lake Blvd. and Northeast Crossing Bike Paths
DESCRIPTION:Before taking off on this short ride\, we will learn how to ride safely on shared trails\, basic rules of the road\, and communication with drivers. The majority of this ride will take you on the newly redone shared use path along Lake Boulevard to the Northeast Crossing Trail (NEXT) toward the Highlands neighborhood in North Redding. We will learn how to position ourselves and navigate through a couple of intersections to access the path. Ride starts at Muchas Gracias\, 65 Lake Blvd\, near the Raley’s shopping center on Lake Blvd. The ride is mostly flat\, with a few mild hills. Bring water and money to purchase dinner following the ride if you choose. One lucky rider will win tacos to enjoy after the ride thanks to our bike month sponsors.  Ride distance: 4 – 5 miles. \nThis ride is one of three in a series of Bike Abouts –beginner friendly rides to learn how to explore your neighborhood and community by bike. Whether you want to do a quick errand by bike\, ride to school or work\, or just get out to enjoy nature\, these rides are for you! \nThe rides in this series will feature safety tips for riding in traffic\, allow you experience the comfort of riding in a group\, and familiarize you to routes that may be different from motor vehicle routes. We will provide a bike pump\, so if your tires need air\, come a little early. Please make sure you have a bike in good working order\, bring a water bottle and helmet (required for rides).
