DESCRIPTION:The Shasta Beloved Community\, in collaboration with community partners\, invites the public to\ncelebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy during the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of\nService Celebration on Monday\, January 19\, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This year’s event will\ntake place at Sequoia Middle School\, located at 1805 Sequoia Street in Redding.\nThis year’s theme\, “Mission Possible: Building Community\, Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way.”\nThis theme is more than a banner; it’s a blueprint for action. It guides our programming\, fuels our\noutreach\, and anchors our commitment to building the Beloved Community; a world where injustice\nends\, violence is replaced by compassion\, and love becomes the prevailing force. It calls for\nreflection\, education\, and action toward creating positive change in our communities. The event will\nfeature a variety of activities\, performances\, and opportunities for all ages to participate in honoring\nDr. King’s legacy.\nHighlights of the 2026 celebration will include:\n• Prayer Circle/March to Sequoia | 10am. Starts at the Shasta County Superior Courthouse –\n1500 Court Street\, Redding\, Ca. A shuttle will be available at 9:20am at Sequoia Middle School\nfor transportation to the Courthouse before the Prayer Circle and March begins.\n* Information Booths 10:45am- -2:00pm\n• MLK Celebration Bell Ringing Ceremony at Sequoia Middle School at 10:45\n* Program & Performances 11:30am\n• Lunch provided by the Asphalt Cowboys & 12:30 to 2:00pm\nThis event will be hosted rain or shine and is open to all community members.
