SUMMARY:Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration
DESCRIPTION:The Shasta Beloved Community\, in collaboration with community partners\, invites the public to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy during the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Celebration on Monday\, January 20\, 2025\, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This year’s event will take place at Sequoia Middle School\, located at 1805 Sequoia Street in Redding. \nThis year’s theme\, “It Starts With Me: Shifting the Cultural Climate through the Study and Practice of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Six Principles of Nonviolence\,” calls for reflection\, education\, and action toward creating positive change in our communities. The event will feature a variety of activities\, performances\, and opportunities for all ages to participate in honoring Dr. King’s legacy. \nHighlights of the 2025 celebration will include: \n\nPrayer/Praise Circle/March to Sequoia | 10am. Starts at the Shasta County Superior Courthouse – 1500 Court Street\, Redding\, Ca. A shuttle will be available at 9:30am at Sequoia Middle School for transportation to the Courthouse before the program begins.\n\n• MLK Celebration Program & Performances/Bell Ringing Ceremony | 11:30am \n• Lunch provided by the Asphalt Cowboys & Information Booths | 1:30pm \nThis event will be hosted rain or shine and is open to all community members.
