SUMMARY:Peace Pole Dedication
DESCRIPTION:The community is invited to witness the Peace Pole Dedication on Thursday\, September 24\, 2026\, at 7 PM at the south end of the Sundial Bridge. The brief event is presented by Lynn E Fritz\, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist\, LMFT 45877\, Karuk Tribal Descendant\, producer and host of the weekly radio program “Enjoy Exceptional Living\,” and ordained minister who chairs Shasta Interfaith\, an association of 20 diverse faith communities of Shasta County and associated organizations and volunteers. \nThe purpose of the peace pole is to encourage us to focus our attention on creating peace\, recognizing and honoring our differences\, and celebrating our common humanity. The 8’ pole features the phrase “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in English\, Wintu\, Spanish\, Hebrew\, Lao\, Mien\, and Punjabi. The pole also includes the phrase “May Peace Prevail in our Communities.” A rock with a plaque at the base of the pole will identify the languages listed on the pole. Native speakers for each language\nwill be present to share the phrase in their language. Art Garcia\, Wintu\, will offer a Native American Blessing. \nThe Peace Pole Project is funded by a grant from the Community Foundation of the North State. Shasta County Citizens Advocating Respect collaborated with Fritz in serving as a fiscal sponsor working with the City of Redding to complete the project. \nThis event is endorsed and co-sponsored by Shasta Interfaith\, Shasta Beloved Community\, Anti-Racism Task Force\, Reciproka\, and Shasta County Citizens Advocating Respect.
