SUMMARY:Sierra Club Field Trip - Meiner’s Gulch Trail
DESCRIPTION:The Shasta Group of Sierra Club with support from CNPS will be leading a field trip on the Meiner’s Gulch Trail in the Swasey Recreation Area west of Redding. This is an easy trail of less than 3 miles with lots to see\, especially the great recovery of trees and shrubs following the Carr Fire. This will be a good time to learn plant identification in the fall. Bird foot’s fern and rock polypody fern are still growing here and the regrowth of the gray pines are quite prolific. For those wishing we can take a short visit to a large-scale hard rock mining operation from the 1850’s. This hike should be easy for most hikers. Considered 1A (easy) by Sierra Club.
