Welcome to the Shasta Scout digital advertising spec sheet. Our publication offers a variety of advertising opportunities including presenting sponsorships of our newsletter, display ads and sponsored content.

Please note that Shasta Scout prefers to design ad placements on our platform.


Newsletter Presenting Sponsor

Our weekday morning newsletter spotlights an exclusive presenting sponsor, with a chance for local partners to sponsor one newsletter per week.

Formatting

Header Recognition

Ad Content
◦ Exclusive “Presented by” acknowledgement atop morning newsletter, AND
◦ Dedicated banner ad OR your organization’s logo and custom message (16 words max) in a 550×725 dedicated top placement

Unacceptable Files
TIFF, EPS, AI, PDF, DOC

Deadlines

Ad content must be submitted a minimum of 3 business days prior to the publication. If an image file is inconsistent with Shasta Scout’s ad specifications, the ad will be returned to the advertiser for modification. If content is submitted late or incorrectly, the advertiser risks having their ad not run or run as is.

Proofs

A screenshot proof of your ad will be sent for approval a minimum of one day before publication of the newsletter. If no response is received from the advertiser by the end of the day, the ad will be considered approved and will be published.

Best Practices

  • Limit text on your ad image, make sure that no more than 30% of the image has text.
  • Limit the number of logos on your ad image, no more than one or two.
  • Ads should contain a single, simple action for customers to take.
  • Keep messaging simple.

Featured Event Listing

Our featured event listings sit at the top of our Upcoming Events section in the newsletter and one the website. There is one featured event listing available per newsletter.

  • Date, time & location of the event in website events calendar
  • Copy (20 words max) in website events calendar

Content for featured event listings must be submitted a minimum of 3 business days prior to the publication of the newsletter.

Proofs

A screenshot proof of your listing will be sent for approval a minimum of one day before publication of the newsletter. If no response is received from the advertiser by the end of the day, the ad will be considered approval and will run as is.

Sponsors can also promote themselves on our website, receiving top-of-page and sidebar placements on key pages and stories.

Deadlines

Content for display ads must be submitted a minimum of 3 business days prior to the start date.

Proofs

A screenshot of your display ad will be sent for review once the display ad is live. Links will be tested internally.

Best Practices

  • Limit text on your display ad image
  • Keep text as large as possible
  • Ad should contain a single, simple action for customers to take, i.e. Read More, Buy Now
  • No more than one logo per ad image

Content Underwriting

All underwritten content will be included in perpetuity on the Shasta Scout website, each article will be included in one newsletter.

Formatting

Transparency is important to Shasta Scout. All underwritten content will be labeled as such and will include sponsor recognition at the top and bottom of the article.

Deadlines

Underwritten content topics must be approved in advance to ensure Shasta Scout has the capacity to execute.

Proofs

As a content underwriter, you will be financially supporting independent editorial coverage without being involved in the actual development. Because of this, no proofs will be sent. We will share the published article with you.

Best Practices

  • Include a UTM with your link that is unique to each underwritten article.
  • Include the Shasta Scout logo on your website to promote your community involvement.
  • Share the underwritten content article(s) on your social media channels.

Events

Shasta Scout will soon begin holding topical events and offering exclusive sponsorship opportunities tailored to each event. These sponsorship opportunities will provide increased brand visibility, community engagement, and provide valuable networking opportunities.
