WILD HORSE SANCTUARY HOSTS FREE OPEN HOUSE

SHINGLETOWN, Calif. — Wild Horse Sanctuary will welcome the community to its free annual Open House on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 5796 Wilson Hill Road in Shingletown. Admission and parking are free.
The event offers a rare opportunity to visit the nation’s oldest wild horse and burro sanctuary, which provides lifelong care to approximately 300 animals across 5,000 acres near Lassen Peak.
Activities will include docent-led wild horse walks and demonstrations of horse grooming, saddling, hoof trimming and horse painting. Guests can also enjoy children’s activities, local artisans and craft vendors, food trucks, search-and-rescue teams and snake-aversion demonstrations.
Live music will be provided throughout the afternoon by Bstrings, Mountain Messengers, Chase & Friends and Patti Anglin. Food and beverages will be available from Granny’s Grill, Holy Crepe and Farmhouse Coffee.
