Maya Nelson: Intern

Hello! My name is Maya and I’m a student journalist from Brooklyn, New York studying English at Brown University. I’m an editor for undergraduate student life at The Brown Daily Herald, where I’ve reported on everything from campus pets to club culture to controversies surrounding Brown’s Department of Public Safety. I’m particularly interested in people-centric stories and profiles, and one of my favorite reporting projects was a “Day in the Life” series I led on Brown staff and faculty. Last summer I interned with Generocity, a local newsroom in Philly, where I covered politics and education. Beyond journalism, I love to write sci-fi fiction in my free time, and also enjoy playing guitar, crocheting and spending an unreasonable amount of time on NYT Spelling Bee.
