California voters on Tuesday approved Proposition 50, the ballot measure to redraw the state’s congressional map in favor of Democrats. The new boundaries could flip up to five Republican seats and secure several vulnerable Democratic incumbents, giving the party an advantage in next year’s battle for control of the U.S. House.
The proposition will temporarily gerrymander the congressional districts of California and is likely to disempower conservative voters in next year’s midterm election.
Shasta’s Market Street election office had few lines and easy access in the final hours of California’s special election on Prop. 50.
It’s common to see election observers at voting stations, but generally less so for them to come from the federal government. Some from the Trump administration will be on the ground in several California counties next month.
ROV Clint Curtis is warning the public of an “issue” in the production of ballot envelopes, a hole that could reveal ballot markings. The Secretary of State's office confirmed that holes in ballot envelopes are a standard feature.
Until Dec. 31, all donations will be doubled, and new donations will be matched 12x.
