The county has launched the “Your Voice, Our Future” survey to help staff structure a five-year strategic plan for Shasta.

“This is an opportunity for residents across our community to tell us what matters most and where they want to see our resources focused,” County CEO David Rickert said in a recent press release.

The idea for a county strategic plan was initially pushed forward by Supervisor Matt Plummer, who said the survey will “help us make decisions that are responsive, transparent, and grounded in what residents truly value.”

The survey takes approximately 15–20 minutes to complete, and for those who prefer an in-person discussion, community meetings will be scheduled for some time in mid-November, the county press release indicated.

The first question asks participants what part of the county they live in: Anderson, Redding, the City of Shasta Lake, or an unincorporated part of the county. From there, the survey asks participants to rate from poor to excellent Shasta’s quality of life and educational resources among other practicalities. The survey also asks whether the county should be placing more or less emphasis on investing in a variety of areas including public safety, mental health, infrastructure, and elections.

For more information, and to fill out the survey by Nov. 30, visit the county’s website

  1. Why bother? They will ignore any rational suggestions and continue to spend time, money and efforts on issues that are not within their jurisdition.

    • Alice. This is why it’s important for the pushback.

Let them know what you really want, instead of what they want.

Alice, we need people like you to raise their voice.

      Please.

  2. Shasta county needs a comprehensive mental health facility where individuals and families in crisis can find expert help.

    • They have them in the bay area. If you live in a rural area, you may not have every convenience two blocks from a bus stop.

  3. We need to encourage the homeless to seek help. There are wonderful programs, housing and mental health assistance in the bay area. Perhaps we can provide transportation to get them to the help they need.

    • Sure, that’s the answer.

Have anyone you don’t like, or who needs help, move away.

What would that be like when ultimately it’s the 1% of the wealthy who are in control?

Let’s get the 99% of other people who are not wealthy to move away to… somewhere.

You know it’s really funny, because I don’t think that Christ came down to promote the wealthy and the privileged. What was that He said again? Oh yes, to love one another as yourselves?

I don’t remember Christ ever saying “take up your arms and your guns” for any reason.

      I am Jack.

  4. Do it people!!

Let carnage crye know that we expect better than him.

Stand up to the tyranny of ‘give me yor attencions cry’, and let him know we are an independent people, and we will not stand for his government overreach.

We the people demand accountability of cryee and curtis.

Sirs, you have crossed a line.

Let’s give them a 5-year plan, but not the one that cry wants from everybody. Assert your independence from cry.
