HHSA Eligibility and Employment Services Office reopens with limited services at Park Marina Drive
Eligibility services for CalFresh, Medi-Cal and CalWORKs are not yet available at the new location but can be accessed at other HHSA locations, the county said.
Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency reopened its Employment Training Services office today at a new Redding location, 2600 Park Marina Drive. It’s one part of a multi-phase location change. HHSA’s original location at 1400 California St. in Redding, closed permanently on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
So far, the new location is offering only employment training services including job searching, employment training, workshops related to interviewing and resumes, and filling out online applications.
Full eligibility and employment services are expected to be available by mid October and EBT card printing services by mid November, according to a press release today. Until then, HHSA said it will continue to serve eligibility clients at other agency offices Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
For eligibility assistance for CalFresh, Medi-Cal and CalWORKs, residents should call HHSA’s Customer Service Center at (877) 652-0731. Online help is available at BenefitsCal.com.
Today’s press release indicated the relocation would save the county about $200,000 this fiscal year and provide more accessible services to the community via free onsite parking and nearby bus lines.
HHSA said it plans to vacate the other half of the California Street building, 1550 California Street, by mid-November, relocating approximately 65 staff in HHSA’s Children and Family Services to other downtown locations before the lease deadline on December 31.
