🏠 NorCal Continuum of Care Executive Board , August 17, 2023
Health and Human Services Agency Director Laura Burch and Assistant Director Christy Coleman were both present at the last NorCal CoC Executive Board meeting, which occurred just before the official end of Shasta County’s role as lead agency in the CoC. They explained to the Board that they still don’t have financial reports related to the NorCal CoC (including grant funding awards and amounts remaining) but continue to say that they are working on compiling the information for the NorCal CoC Executive Board.
The NorCal CoC also continued to review the remaining roles and responsibilities that need to be picked up, given the withdrawal of Shasta County as the lead agency. Shasta County agreed to maintain the NorCal CoC’s website and other relatively minor administrative tasks until another agency can take them over. According to former Redding Mayor and current CoC Executive Board Chair Kristen Schreder, the City of Redding is considering picking up those additional tasks and other unallocated lead agency roles but is waiting to hear a more clearly defined scope of work before considering taking on any additional responsibilities for the CoC.
The board also learned from staff representatives from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, who were present at the meeting by GoToMeeting, that Shasta County should still be listed as the lead agency for the 2023 HUD application process despite the City of Redding being the new collaborative applicant. That’s because the process of changing the official role over to the City of Redding before the application is due this year on September 28 would be nearly impossible, they said.
