Rancho Fire in Cottonwood Prompts Evacuations
The fire is moving quickly and has already spread to 40 acres with structures threatened and evacuations ordered.

6.20.25 8:43 am: The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office has lifted all evacuation warnings. All zones have returned to normal status.
6.19.10:15 pm: Around 4 pm all evacuation orders were downgraded to warnings and expected to stay in place overnight. Containment was at about 20% with the fire still stopped at 157 acres.
6.19.25 3:54 pm: Forward progress on the fire has been stopped at 157 acres. Cal Fire reports that multiple ground and air resources remain on scene working aggressively towards full containment. There is continued potential for spotting due to wind conditions. All evacuation orders and warnings remain in place.
A vegetation fire in Cottonwood that started this afternoon, June 19, in the 3900 block of Rancho Estates Road has spread to 40 acres.
Evacuations have been ordered in zones AND-9750 and COT-9660. An evacuation order means you should leave now if you live in an affected zone. Find your zone here.
Evacuation warning have been issued for zones AND-1800, AND-9590, COT-9710, COT-9720, COT-9730, COT 9740.
A collection point is being established at the Auction Yard in Cottonwood. Road closures in the area include Rancho Estates Road at Gas Point closed to northbound traffic; Rhonda Road at Lynhart closed to southbound traffic; Rhonda Road at Gas Point closed to northbound traffic.
