The Redding Regional Airport is alerting the public that it is conducting a Mass-Casualty Incident emergency training event on Friday.

The event, also called a Triennial Exercise, is intended to ensure airport staff and local public safety agencies are trained for a mass-casualty event, such as a plane crash, at the Redding Regional Airport.

The airport sent out a press release alerting the public about the event in advance because there will be emergency personnel, equipment and smoke in the vicinity of the airport on Friday.

“Because it’s designed to look like a real emergency, we need the public to be aware that this is just a drill,” ” Redding Airport Manager Andrew Solsvig said in the release.

Preparation for the training event, which includes the staging of equipment and the presence of emergency personnel, began today. The exercise is required by the Federal Aviation Administration every three years for commercial airports.

The training will mostly take place in a “discreet location on the US Forest Service’s ramp at the far northern portion of the airfield,” the press release said, though passengers may notice activities from the air or the tarmac.

The Redding Fire and Police Departments, as well as other regional fire agencies, will conduct training on a mobile aircraft prop that will produce some smoke in the area. The press release also said that volunteers will participate in the event to replicate real-world emergency conditions, ensuring first responders are able to train on coordinated response efforts, which include fire suppression, medical care and scene management.

“Even the first responders from the Redding Fire Department, Redding Police Department, and other agencies are not aware of the specifics of the training exercise to ensure the response is as authentic as possible,” Solsvig said. “We hope to never have to put this kind of training to use, but it’s important that everyone involved knows their role in an emergency and that we can identify any response issues in a controlled space rather than during a critical incident.”

The event will not impact airport operations, streets or parking, but there will be additional activity at the airport, the release explained, emphasizing that it is not open to the public.

The event is not open to the public.

  1. Well said. May I just add. VOTE!!!!

  2. Apparently, most people in this county -for not saying the majority- are living in a STATE OF DENIAL regarding the ongoing war against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

That conflict right now can be defined as UNRESTRICTED WARFARE plus WAR OF ATTRITION, while the expected consequences can already be seen: skyrocketing prices of gasoline ($5.19 on average for regular, while $6.59 for diesel).

How many people in Shasta County are aware of Valero’s refinery explosion in Port Arthur, TX that occurred last Tuesday 24 MAR 2026? Valero Energy, a U.S.-based company, has been a key supplier of JP-8 jet fuel to Israel for its military operations.

Moreover, the PSYCHOPATH in the White House -struggling with Nero’s Syndrome too- is incapable of accepting responsibility for the death of US servicemen now that all hell is breaking loose in the Persian Gulf. Besides that, this PSEUDO-PRESIDENT does not understand the consequences of ordering MILITARY OPERATIONS without PROPER ADVISORY.

The upcoming Mass-Casualty Incident training event taking place at Redding airport might be a signal of what is in store for the United States in a foreseeable future.
