Redding receives nearly $8 million grant for Stillwater Business Park improvements
The grant will go toward extending a portion of the park to allow for the opening of additional parcels for future development.
The city of Redding has been awarded a $7.9 million grant from the Economic Development Administration for infrastructure improvements at Stillwater Business Park.
The park is owned and operated by the city, and it’s an industrial and commercial development space created in hopes of attracting new businesses and jobs to expand the local economy. The grant will specifically go toward extending Venture Parkway from Parcel 12 to Parcel 16, which will open road access to additional parcels for future development.
“Grants like this allow the City to leverage funding to the best of our ability,” Interim City Manager Michael Webb said in a press release announcing the grant. “We applied for this funding in July of 2025 because we believed this project was a strong investment in Redding’s economic future.
“Completing this infrastructure will improve our economic position, create opportunities for new businesses and jobs, and help bring outside investment into our community,” he continued.
Stillwater Business Park, which is located near the Redding Regional Airport, opened in 2010 after more than a decade of planning and development. It remained unoccupied for several years but has seen a surge of growth in recent years.
About a year ago, construction began on a new Amazon facility at Stillwater Business Park, and it opened earlier this year. The park is also home to other major businesses, including Frito-Lay and Pace Engineering.
Rebecca Baer, president and CEO of the Shasta Economic Development Corporation, said in the press release that with Amazon’s recent investment, further project advancement from other companies and continued interest in the vacant sites, years of planning to create Stillwater Business Park is turning into economic momentum.
“This EDA investment in Venture Parkway is exactly the kind of strategic infrastructure investment that helps us capitalize on that momentum,” she said, “opening access to additional land for development and positioning Stillwater to attract the next generation of employers, investment, and high-quality jobs to Redding and Shasta County.”
The project isn’t expected to go out to bid and start construction until next summer, though timelines are subject to change, and more information will come as the project moves forward, the press release said.
