Shasta County warns of impacts from government shutdown
The County Administrative Office published a press release today explaining that local federally funded programs and services may experience disruptions in funding.

The Shasta County Administrative Office is warning residents of potential impacts of the government shutdown on local federally funded programs and services.
In a press release published on Oct. 16, the county explained that the federal government shutdown may temporarily disrupt federally funded programs in the area. The release added that the county is working to identify which programs and services may be affected, assess how many people could be impacted and explore options to support staff and services.
The government shutdown began on Oct. 1. Earlier today, the Senate spending bill that needed to pass in order to reopen the government failed for the 10th time, as Democrats continue pushing for health care benefits.
If the shutdown continues, impacts may be widespread. The Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, known as CalFresh in California, could be at risk if the shutdown rolls over into November. Federal workers may miss paychecks, be furloughed or get laid off entirely — though some layoffs initiated by the Trump administration since the shutdown began have been paused by a ruling from a San Francisco federal judge.
In Shasta County, officials are still unsure as to what areas have been or will be impacted. Shasta Deputy CEO Stewart Buettell said the county is still working to find answers, but that he’s especially worried about community-based organizations, like food banks, that provide critical services to people in need of extra assistance.
The press release said the county will update the public as information becomes available.

As far as I’m concerned all our politicians are acting like spoiled little rich kids. They have no
Clue what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck. While they sit in their mansions eating whatever they want, having the best healthcare possible, able to afford anything they want Americans are going hungry standing in food bank lines, being layed off by our government that’s making the rich richer, giving 20 Billion dollars to Argentina for their soybeans while our farmers are going under and let’s not talk about the 600 million dollar ball room that must be built and the billions to refit the plane for Trump to use when we can’t afford gas to get our kids to school. What happened to crossing the isle to mind a solution for the PEOPLE of the United States.
Any politician that thinks that Americans don’t deserve affordable health care should have their free lifetime healthcare taken away from them and their families.
Yes. I agree. It’s very hard to survive already. I will be homeless if I loose HUD housing and snap benefits. I’m a 68 Year Old male. I paid into social security and if I loose my benefits and my medical I may as well find a place to die. And I really do think that Donald Trump is the Anti Christ. A lot of people are going to probably die. And the government doesn’t seem to care about the people who live in the United States anymore. I’m not rich like Donald Trump. I depend on my SSDI. And I don’t think I have any medical. Every medical service is leaving Shasta county. I paid for Aetna insurance and they are leaving December 31. I’m glad that my parents are not alive to see what is happening right now in this world. To get medical insurance I have to move out of Shasta county. I don’t have any transportation. I have no one to get any help from. I need some assistance immediately. And there is none. Evil is amung us .
The continuing Resolution already passed by the The House of Representees until November 21. The hold up is short 5 votes in the Senate by far-left looney Democrat in order to pass by 60 votes.
The Democrats don’t want to go through appropriations and hearings to discuss their budget request of 1.5 billion dollars because it will reveal excessive unnecessary funding and no US citizens will be effective with health care. housing, or food cuts.
So, it is a Democrat party federal government shut down with appropriations.
It doesn’t matter who is at fault. If the senent doesn’t help us with housing, snap, and advocatecy then as far as I see it we are all dead! And then why do we have a government anyway. If I hunt for my food I’m going to jail or prison. I don’t have any transportation a license or anyone to help me. And they are not going to let anyone live in the woods alone. The only safe place will be so far away from people no one will ever find you. A now with arrows and having a horse or mule or even on foot,is probably going to be illegal soon.
We can tell how serious and informed you are, by the constant use of trump buzzwords and fox news talking points. Way to go
The Republicans control all 3 Branches of Government currently.
They can end the shutdown anytome they want.
Don’t spread lies and falsehoods here…
What we have here is failure to communicate.
Program cuts are sad for all affected. But it is what the majority of Shasta County residents voted for. So now they get to enjoy the life they voted for.
The County is looking at massive layoffs in the HHSA Department. This is really sad.
