Update: Service Restored for Spectrum Customers in Shasta County
The outage began October 11 around 7 am and was fully resolved by 8 pm.
A spokesperson for Charter Communications told Shasta Scout that as of 8 pm tonight, October 11, a county-wide Spectrum outage had been resolved.
“All services have been restored,” Charter’s Senior Director of Communications Dennis Johnson said, explaining that technicians responded right away when the outage began at 7 am and worked to repair and replace more than 850 strands of fiber destroyed by an act of vandalism. Additional technicians were deployed, he said, to ensure service was restored as quickly as possible.
As of 3 pm this afternoon, October 11, 40% of Spectrum customers across Shasta County were still being affected by the outage.
Johnson said the incident occurred somewhere in Redding, but did not specify the location. This is the second Spectrum outage caused by vandalism in the last few months. Both were reported to law enforcement.
