Shasta’s League of Women Voters announces candidate forums for June primary
The Shasta branch of the national nonpartisan organization has scheduled four candidate forums this spring. The public is invited to bring questions and hear directly from candidates running for a variety of roles.

Shasta’s League of Women Voters will hold a series of four candidate forums this spring in the run up to the June primary.
The League of Women Voters is a national nonprofit dedicated to nonpartisan voter empowerment. The forums will provide the public with opportunities to hear from candidates running for Congress, as well as those who hope to win seats on the county board and as Shasta’s next election official. They’ll be held in community spaces in Redding and Anderson.
Candidates running to represent California’s congressional District 2 — which will include Shasta, under newly-drawn Prop.50 lines — will participate on a panel on April 2, from 5-7 p.m. at the Cascade Theatre. Those candidates include Jared Huffman, Rose Yee, Tim Geist, Robin Littau, Paul Saulsbury, Angelita Valles, and Gregory Burgess. Candidate Nicolette Niman is unable to attend, the LWV said.
Candidates for the Shasta County Board of Supervisors representing District 1 will present to the public on April 15 from 5-6:30 at the Redding Library in the community room. They include Supervisor Kevin Crye, Redding Council member Erin Resner and commercial driver Richard Gallardo.
Candidates for the Shasta County Board of Supervisors seat representing District 5 will present to the public on April 16 from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Senior Center. They include Supervisor Chris Kelstrom, Anderson Council member Michael Gallagher and retired business owner Gary Oxley.
Candidates for Shasta County’s Clerk and Registrar of Voters will appear on a panel on April 22 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Redding Library in the community room. They include Registrar of Voters Clint Curtis and former Assistant Registrar of Voters Joanna Francescut.
Community members should come prepared with questions that can be submitted to the LWV for presenting to panelists.
