A majority of Redding council seats will appear on ballots this fall. Four candidates have announced their intent to run
Business owner and former Caltrans employee Christina Prosperi and incumbent council member Jack Munns have filed for candidacy for the November election, along with planning commissioner and engineer Russ Wenham. Council member Tenessa Audette said she’d also be running for reelection.
The filing period for candidates running for the Redding City Council opened today, and several individuals have already filed for candidacy. With three of the council’s five seats open, this fall’s election will determine the council’s majority for the next four years.
Christina Prosperi, owner of TRUE Ride cycling studio and a former Caltrans employee, is listed on the city’s candidate filing site. She’s joined by Redding planning commissioner and engineer Russ Wenham, who announced his run last month, and current council member Jack Munns.
Council member Tenessa Audette also confirmed that she plans to run for reelection, although the candidate filing site does not yet list her as having filed for candidacy.
Audette and Munns are nearing the end of their first terms on the city council. Council member Erin Resner’s term is also expiring, but she’ll be joining the Shasta County Board of Supervisors in January after defeating incumbent Supervisor Kevin Crye.
The filing period for candidacy for the Nov. 3 election closes on Aug. 7 at 5 p.m.
Council seats are nonpartisan, city-wide positions. Redding voters will be able to choose their top three candidates on ballots this fall. The top three candidates with the most votes will assume office before the end of the year.

According to his new religion, God says: “I sacrificed my son/myself to pay for your sins so that you don’t have to.” The exact same logical construct as: “I smashed my right thumb with a hammer to make your mortgage payment so that you don’t have to.” All you have to do is believe.

In order to believe that above-stated irrational construct, the dogma has to be drilled into you since childhood. Or, in a minority of cases, you chose it as an adult because you desperately want to relinquish responsible for your pathetic life and offload that duty onto someone or something else. “Jesus, take the wheel.”

I can’t answer for Bobby, but as a Palo Cedro resident I don’t get to vote for Redding City Council. Wish I could. Obviously, decisions made by the council affect my life nearly every day.
