Gov. Newsom appoints Redding attorney to fill judicial vacancy in Shasta’s Superior Court
Patrick Deedon will fill a role vacated by Judge Stephen Baker when he retired in June. His start date has not yet been announced.

Today, the state announced a number of judicial appointments across California. They included the appointment of a new Shasta County judge, Redding-based attorney Patrick Deedon.
Shasta County Superior Court Chief Executive Officer Cody Stenderup said today the court is grateful to Gov. Gavin Newsom for moving quickly to fill the seat of Judge Stephen H. Baker, who retired in June. Stenderup noted that Deedon’s start date and caseload have not yet been determined. Judge Baker, who Deedon will replace, handled civil law matters for the court.
Information shared by the governor’s office indicated that Deedon currently serves as a partner at the law firm Marie & Deedon. That firm’s site documents Deedon’s practice emphasis on civil law, insurance defense, public entity defense and accident injuries for both public and private sector clients.
Deedon earned a bachelors degree in Public Administration from California State University, Chico in 2002, and received his law degree from Cal Northern School of Law in 2006. He was admitted into the state bar of California that same year.
His firm’s website indicates that Deedon is a member of the Exchange Club of Redding and volunteers as a coach in the Upward Sports program at CrossPointe Community Church. His firm says he enjoys time with his family, including his seven children, and is an enthusiast of outdoor activities including shooting, fishing and hunting.
Deedon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
