‘Incident’ at Shasta Elections Office triggered report to Secretary of State, county says
The incident allegedly involved Shasta’s election official removing from the office copies of documents that “may have” included confidential voter information, the county said in a press release today. Shasta won’t be initiating legal charges because the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the Secretary of State.

A June 4 incident at the Shasta Elections Office at Market Street has triggered a report to the Secretary of State, Shasta County said today.
Information about the incident was released after a June 6 special closed meeting related to the potential for litigation, which revealed little to the public. Supervisors voted during that closed session to release as much information as was legally allowable, as soon as possible.
Today’s press release said the incident involved the “retention and removal” from the Shasta County Elections Office of documents that “may have” contained confidential voter information. Registrar of Voters Clint Curtis was the one responsible for retaining and removing the documents which were copies, the release stated, not originals.
The press release also noted a second issue, saying that during reconciliation of votes cast prior to Election Day, discrepancies were found in ballot numbers. Those discrepancies suggested, the county says, that a small number of additional ballots may have been handed out to voters prior to Election Day by one employee.
That employee remains unnamed in the press release, although the county says additional information was shared with the state. The county said those misaligned ballot numbers may have impacted reports compiled by the county’s election management system.
“Further, since the reconciliation process is required to be completed prior to certain reports being available from the Election Information Management System (EIMS),” the press release stated, “those reports may not have been properly balanced before being run from EIMS.”
Midway through working on reconciling, the press release said, staff locked the working documents and election materials in a cabinet in the office to continue their work later. That’s when, the county indicated, Curtis obtained them.
“During the interim, those documents were removed by another employee, copied, given to the Clerk & Registrar of Voters, Clint Curtis, and securely locked in another employee’s office,” the press release said.
The county emphasized that no original ballots or election materials left the elections office, but said the copies of the documents which were retained and removed by Curtis, “may have” included information such as names, addresses, birth dates, phone numbers and signatures.
“Since this matter falls under the jurisdiction of the Secretary of State,” the press release said, “the County of Shasta will not be initiating litigation at this time.”
In response to today’s press release Curtis told a reporter that county officials were lying. He called the report to the Secretary of State another “attack” by County Counsel Joseph Larmour and said he’s “surprised he hasn’t already been suspended by the California bar.”
“He is starting to tread on an harassment of an election official in a federal election,” Curtis added.
When asked about the special meeting and potential litigation by a reporter yesterday, Curtis forwarded what appeared to be a heavily-redacted email that he said he had sent to the Secretary of State and Department of Justice on the morning of June 6, after the board’s special meeting had already been called.
In that email Curtis noted concerns about ballots being handed out over the counter. He also noted that he had copied unspecified documents and put them “where [redacted] couldn’t be found.”
“Just for show, I took some paper out of the trash and said I was going to secure it in my car,” Curtis wrote in the email. “That way [redacted] would think the documents were secure and couldn’t be altered. Later I secured those real documents in [redacted].”
The Secretary of State’s Office said today that it had no comment at this time.

The Clint Curtis Clown Car has plunged off not just Losers’ Leap, but a criminality cliff.
.
Brace for impact, all you MAGA election fabulists who assisted him. Legal accountability is coming for you the way it came for Tina Peters.
Looks like a bottle of Pepto Bismol in his hand.
Some observations
As a staunch conservative I must agree with Christian… we need a full investigation and then a complete open vetting of what happened… no more secrets
JCK and now CKC all need to go. I’ve already heard Corky wont run again.. gee out of his depth perhaps… but lets make sure that doesn’t happen…maybe he can resign when his puppet-masters are no longer here. Hey Corky… there are Shasta County citizens starving in your district.. did you know that.. I do… I get to deal with them. Hey Corky.. did you know you and Chris have the worst illegal grows in Shasta County… look south from the graveyard off 299 sometime… get your tookus out of your buttus.. I know.. I’ve plotted and droned them for eradication. Hey Corky..is it true you are too lazy to read your emails and have a non-county citizen read them for you… talk about breech of confidentiality…jeepers
The whole group of these people have cost every one of us money… heartache… lawsuits… and disrespectful, chaotic, personal self-serving government.
Let’s also remember the low quality people they brought in because exemplary quality applicants took one look at this mess and said no thanks.
I have zero trust in all of them and it will take years to undo the damage.. especially after six more months of scorched earth
We must support Gallagher even if you don’t live in his district.
I have confirmed Revege Anselmo is out… he’s not flowing any money to these guys
Are there issues with Resner.. absolutely…. and more will come out I cant disclose… but ANYONE but Crye is the flavor of the day
Rock the REAL VOTE
None of this would have occurred had the BOS withdrawn its temporary appointment when warning signals about Curtis first appeared. He is NOT an “elected” official, he was appointed to fill a vacant term. Shuck and duck all you want, we still have a serious mess on our hands.
Legally (at least in my understanding) the board cannot appoint, and then ‘un-appoint’ (rescind that appointment), an individual to serve an elected position. That appointment entitles that person to serve through the remainder of the official term. Malfeasance and actual crime open other doors – but I’m not entirely sure of that mechanism – and in any case that option has never been broached regarding Curtis.
So it’s time for that censure now, isn’t it?
Clearly, Kelstrom did not want Hobbs commenting on possible litigation that might involve her. No comment is best advice when litigation is a possibility.
Good to know the events happened in the main office so no blame could be attached to them as I was afraid he’d do if there were problems. Interesting how 1 specific person was named as coconspirator to get stuff for Curtis so it is pretty easy to figure that out. Also strange if you read this and searchlight I never get the feeling that he said he didn’t get the docs and put in a self determined “safe place”. This guy just knows how to stick his foot in his mouth. I’ve never seen anyone but the big guy say so many things that a functioning brain would never allow.
Shasta scout, can the county election even be certified at this point? Or is it too early to say.
Clearly, this incident requires a full investigation. Yes, the “jurisdiction” is at the state level, but the county can conduct its own investigation and report to the state. We are not getting the full facts. If I’m reading this correctly, and sure I might be wrong, but Curtis’s admission that copies of federally and state-protected voter information, including names, addresses, birth dates, phone numbers, and signatures, “may have” been taken from the office is very concerning. We need to know, through a thorough investigation and testimony under oath, as in a deposition or a court proceeding, who took what and whether they gave it to a third party, or not. I mean, Clint has openly begged the “FBI to raid my office,” and now there may be a good reason for the California Attorney General to do so.
.
Also, it has been alleged that some of the people who were on, or are still involved in, the scam called the “Election Commission” are now working for Clint and were seeking access to Shasta County Voter Rolls, which is also illegal. And, as we all know, Clint Curtis is connected to the effort and narrative that preceded the seizure of ballots in Riverside, as well as to the allegations, public discussion, and advocacy around it. We have all seen the Clint Goes To Riverside videos! We need to know whether this “may have” event is another form of Riverside or not! But what we do know is that Clint Curtis’ Big Lie Comes To Shasta County circus will be folding the tent soon. And if Clint’s Big Lie employees, like Hobbs, Galardo, and Jones, etc., are “at will” employees, they should go with him.
Imagine if Joanna was ROV when all this happened. The election deniers would be marching to election office with torches to burn it down!
Forgot to mention that Curtis has admitted past but relatively recent communication with trumps DOJ and CPRAs confirmed this.
.
If interested in how the DOJ is interfering with the June 02 vote in L.A., Google Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli.
.
A new CPRA needs to be given to Curtis and the SCBOS asking about any recent Curtis / Turner / DOJ communication.
.
Again, there may be some funny stuff going on here and a thorough investigation is needed to find out one way or another. Me. I don’t trust Curtis and some of his staff at all.
Just who has Clint Curtis been talking with? Why is this important? According to a June 8, 2026, Shasta County press release reported by Shasta Scout, (See”. https://shastascout.org/incident-at-shasta-elections-office-triggered-report-to-secretary-of-state-county-says/?utm_source=chatgpt.com) Curtis said he had sent information to both the Secretary of State and the U.S. Department of Justice regarding concerns about election materials, but that was his own communication, not a county referral to the Attorney General. The next question is, has Clint Curtis been in contact with Trump-selected Bill Essayli or anyone in Essayli’s office?
.
In April 2025, Trump selected Bill Essayli, then a well-known Trump supporter and Republican member of the California State Assembly, to lead the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California. In October 2025, a federal judge ruled that Essayli had unlawfully served as Acting U.S. Attorney after the statutory period for his interim appointment expired, thereby disqualifying him from participating in certain cases in that capacity. The L.A. Times reported this status is one reason some observers view Essayli’s involvement in high-profile California election matters, including the voter-roll litigation against Secretary of State Shirley Weber, as politically controversial. Trump’s administration then assigned him to a different role, technically as a “First Assistant U.S. Attorney,” which allowed him to continue leading the office in practice.
.
Although Essayli’s office does not cover Shasta County, he can still become involved in statewide California election issues that affect records from all counties, including Shasta. Essayli has recently publicly stated that his office has multiple election-fraud investigations underway in California, and he has defended the DOJ’s efforts to investigate California elections and obtain voter-roll information, much of which appears to be at the center of the Clint Curtis’ alleged documents copied and removed event, which is reportedly now being investigated by the California Secretary of State. The current legal case is United States v. Weber, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, before Judge David O. Carter, brought by the DOJ and then appealed by the DOJ after losing to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
.
We can’t let folks like Crye, Kelstorm, and Corky sweep this under the “not my jurisdiction” rug. Pressure to investigate must be maintained because, as of now, the Clint Curtis Cyrcus is still going to be in control of all things that matter in the November 3, 2026, General Election here in Shasta County.
Gee Laura Hobbs, “methinks thou dost protest too much”
So glad Joanna is pulling away in the vote counts. I am tired of the chaos. Make elections boring again! 😂
Nowhere do we learn why Curtis wanted those copies. Why?
Kevin Crye wanted them at one time only to be told nope he couldn’t see or have them.
Is there supposed to be a final tally released today?
Selah
NorCal Gary: They didn’t quite finish counting votes today.
The vote count is unofficial until the canvass is complete.
California elections law prohibits counties from certifying the results of this election before Friday, June 26, 2026, because Elections Code section 3019 gives voters until 5 p.m. on June 24 to cure a signature challenge of their vote-by-mail ballot.
The question is why? why is this happening in our County? what let to this? the answer is very simple. Kevin Crye, Chris Kelstrom and Corkey Harmon are directly responsible for this chaos. They voted to appoint a guy with zero experience and a dark and questionable past.
Once the SOS presses chargers against all those involved, including Curtis and Hobbs, I hope the County is not even contemplating the notion of covering the cost for the legal representation.
So glad to know that Clint and an unnamed elections worker have access to names, addresses, phone numbers and possibly what they voted for during an election when both are either a candidate or perhaps the chief driver for Measure B, if the unnamed staffer might have been in attendance at the emergency board meeting disclosing their questioning by County Administration over events that occurred at the elections office).
I feel secure in my belief that information would in no way be used to disseminate to others & used to dox, identify their employers, identify their businesses, identify their church affiliations and try to make life more difficult for them. Not that I see any anonymous posts on social media regarding a business or an employee that the die-hard rabble rousers have been pushing around.
Does this information qualify as protected information? Is it a breach of confidentiality? Are the people whose names, addresses, emails, telephone numbers etc. going to be contacted by the county to inform them of the unauthorized access to their information?
Someone’s in big trouble. 🤣
Curtis and Hobbs knew what the Special Meeting on Saturday and the topic that was to be discussed. Hobbs gave that away with her ill-timed remarks before the closed session on Saturday. HOW DID THEY KNOW? Hmmmmmm
Because, as Hobbs herself explained, she’d been questioned by the CEO and County Counsel the day before about the sequence of events. Having a special meeting called within hours after an interview like that would be a pretty good clue…
