Shasta County Elections 2024: Here’s Who’s Running for Congress, Senate, State Assembly, and State Senate

Here’s an overview of which state offices will be on the ballot for Shasta County voters in November 2024.

Editor’s Note: We have listed candidates in the order they appear on the official candidate list and we’ve identified their occupations in the same way.

United States Senate

U.S. Senators serve the entire state of California for six-year terms. The state of California has two senators, only one seat is up for election this fall. You will see two items on the ballot for this seat.

U.S. Senator – Partial/Unexpired Term – November 2024 to January 2025

Candidates include Democratic congressman Adam B. Schiff and Republican professional baseball representative Steve Garvey.

U.S. Senator – Full Term

Candidates include Democratic congressman Adam B. Schiff and Republican professional baseball representative Steve Garvey.


California’s 1st Congressional District

California’s 1st Congressional District seat is up for election this fall. The elected candidate will serve in the U.S. House of Representatives for a two-year term. All Shasta County registered voters will be eligible to vote in this race. See this map to understand where California’s 1st Congressional District’s boundaries are.

Candidates include Republican incumbent Doug LaMalfa and Democrat business executive Rose Penelope Yee.


California State Senate, District 1

State senators serve California’s 1st District. One state senator serves for a four-year term.

Candidates include Republican farmer/businesswoman/mother Megan Dahle and Republican entrepreneur David Fennell.


California State Assembly, District 1

Assembly members serve California’s 1st District. One assembly member serves for a two-year term.

Candidates include Republican Mayor of Redding Tenessa Audette and Republican farmer/emergency manager Heather Hadwick.
