Updated: Francescut maintains lead for county clerk, Measure B pulls farther ahead
Results from the precincts are back showing Francescut maintaining her lead and Measure B succeeding by a larger margin. Resner is still ahead for District 1
Update: June 3, 2026 5:17 a.m.: Results from the precincts are back with 100% of precincts reporting. Many vote-by-mail ballots remain to be counted.
Election Results: Measure B
With a 21,878 votes counted, Measure B, a local initiative that would amend Shasta’s charter to significantly impact elections processes is succeeding with 12. 171 votes or 55.63% of the vote. While these results are still preliminary, Measure B’s margin of success has continued to expand over recent hours as results have come in.
Election Results: Shasta County Clerk and Registrar of Voters
With a 21,054 votes counted, former Assistant Registrar of Voters Joanna Francescut is leading with 11,876 votes or 56.41% of the vote. Current Registrar of Voters Clint Curtis has 9,178 votes. These results are still preliminary but Francescut’s lead has expanded over the last several hours.
Election Results: Shasta County Supervisor, District 1
With 4,073 votes counted, Redding Council member Erin Resner is still leading with 2,192 votes or 53.82% of the vote. Supervisor Kevin Crye has 1,585 votes and truck driver Richard Gallardo has 296. These results are still preliminary, but Resner’s lead has been increasing over the last several hours.
Election Results: Shasta County Supervisor, District 5
With a 4,000 votes counted, Anderson Council member Mike Gallagher is still narrowly leading with 1,955 votes or 48.88% of the vote. Supervisor Chris Kelstrom has 1,654 votes and registered nurse Gary Oxley has 391. These results are still preliminary, so far no single candidate has the more than 50% needed to win the primary and avoid a runoff in the fall.

I am not trying to stir the pot or create Mesa Arizona outlandish conspiracy theories at all. What I am trying to figure out is the large discrepancy between the Elections Office reported votes on the current listed results for several County wide items.
County Clerk = 21054 current votes
Measure B = 21,878 current votes (800 more votes?)
Auditor = 16,383 current votes.
Assessor = 17,000 votes
I fully understand that not every voter casts a vote for every single ballot item they are allowed to vote on. That is especially true for candidates who have zero opponents listed (Auditor & Controller).
I would expect to see a difference between the total votes counted for County Clerk vs Measure B – I was expecting maybe 100-200 tops as a difference. I am shocked by 800 votes being the difference. I am hoping someone here has some insight to the anomoly.
Some people distrust candidates and wouldn’t vote for a person, yet they might vote for Measure B. It’s a way for an ordinary person to pass a law. This belief might explain why so many more votes for B than for Clerk. Like you, the difference of 800 surprises me. I expected most people voting for B would also vote for Curtis. Maybe Curtis’ erratic outsider stance offended people who would have otherwise voted for him.
My ballot has not even been acknowledged on Ballottrax. I cast my vote yesterday in a polling place. How long does it take to show up on Ballottrax?
Hi there. It depends somewhat on whether you cast your ballot inside a vote by mail ballot or not. Those dropped at poll places inside envelopes on Election Day have likely not yet been counted.
Mine was dropped off inside the polling place after they verified I had not used the return envelope. I thought those would get counted along with all the others at the polling place. It is now 1:30 and my ballot has not been acknowledged.

Hi CJ. If you cast a ballot that went into the black ballot box at your precinct, even if it was the ballot you received in the mail, you won’t get an acknowledgment via ballot trax since there is no identifying mark in your ballot itself. The only way ballot trac can verify a ballot was received is if it is mailed or put into a drop box using that initial return envelope that came with your ballot.
Measure B won’t last five minutes in court. It’s nothing more than the illegal voter disenfranchisement wet dream of our local election-fabulist fruitcakes.

Curtis is salivating at the prospect of suing the County and all who spoke the truth about him. I won’t be surprised if he’s tossed out of court as well.

Francescut’s lead narrowed, not widened. She had 59.3% of the 8pm count which lowered to 56.4% by 3am.
Her lead will probably start to grow with remaining ballots being almost all vote by mail.

Measure B is disappointing but not surprising. People are gravitating to a concept without considering consequences. I can’t help but wonder how much of this support stems from the distrust of someone else’s district or opinions. It seems to me that results at the local level are what you would expect.
Measure B will never be implemented, it will be litigated into oblivion. Hopefully in a way that doesn’t cost us taxpayers large legal bills.

I was an observer at the City of Shasta Lake Polling Place because I wanted to see how the new “closing” process would work. The poll workers said that they were short handed and were able to answer most of my questions. I was disappointed when they couldn’t tell me how the “drop box” at the Visitors Center in Shasta Lake would be collected. I spent the day watching cars come in to use the drop box and was surprised that there wasn’t a camera on the ballot box. There is a secure platform on the box itself but no camera in the designated area. The City does have a lot of security cameras there in the park, but I thought that Mr. Curtis had campaigned that the drop boxes all be outfitted with security cameras. I called the Elections Department Hotline to inquire about how those ballots in our drop box would be collected and the clerk said that a rover would be out to lock the box at 8pm and that there had been roving collections throughout the day on the drop boxes located in Shasta County but couldn’t tell me when the drop box would be completely cleared and when those ballots would be counted. I walked over to the drop box and am happy to report that at 8:35pm two pollworkers arrived and pulled the remaining ballots from the dropbox, put them in a secure tote and drove off = hopefully to the elections office.
I dropped off my vote by mail ballot at the Shasta Lake Library drop box, weeks ago, and my ballot and my husband’s were counted weeks ago, we were notified via email.

Just out of curiosity, how is a person whose nasal passages are blocked (perhaps because of seasonal allergies), intellectually and emotionally inferior to humans such as you? Also, what’s wrong with voting on voting day?
In an effort to use the remote observation cameras I found dead links. After much searching the site using different methods, I was able to find the cameras (I think). There is nothing there.
Livestream is not yet operating as no ballots are being livestreamed yet since none have arrived from the precincts as of 9:20 p.m.
They came online around 9:15 PM and were worthless, as every name on the ballot was a blur.
